Wilde Heart’s Inspiration

If you read the About Me blog, you know part of the reason I started my practice was to offer more flexibility within my schedule to accommodate being a working parent. My practice grew fast and it became clear there was a need for expansion. For about a year and a half, I thought about how to pull off opening a larger space. My practice previously had very simply been my name, but in opening something bigger, I wanted something new. I had some ideas, but nothing was really landing. Nothing felt like “the one.”

In June 2026, I finally found the perfect location! I went for a walk after viewing the space and was imaging all the possibilities. Not long into my walk, I started to think about my friend, Alyson. Alyson is a childhood friend and we were close with one another for over 20 years. We really are like sisters. She died in 2023. The loss has fundamentally changed me as a person. I learned pretty quickly that sudden loss is extremely complicated and from one moment to the next, my relationship with my grief varies.

The other side of this change to my life was I started to live a lot more intentionally. I travel a lot more, I worry about trivial things less, I deliberately acknowledge gratitude in really simple moments, like going to the park with my kids, and I spend much less time on social media. I think about Alyson every day and she is often my inspiration to work hard and provide quality care that is accessible. She is embedded into the values of Wilde Heart and I am honored to carry parts of who she is into this work. Alyson’s favorite poet and writer was Oscar Wilde. Wilde is my son’s middle name in honor of my friend. Wilde Heart is a way of bringing together my passion for helping others and Alyson’s memory.

Grief is a universal experience. While I still get stuck on the unfairness of it all and how much I miss my friend, it has transformed the way I understand loss and my ability to provide support to others who may be going through some form of grief. I know my grief is a direct line to how much I love my friend and for that, I am grateful.
